Welcome! and thank you for stopping by. Those who know me probably know that I am a collector of hobbies, sometimes becoming all-consuming obsessions that I will drop in the future but not wihtout first acquiring some useful skill. To wit: link. This latest obsession has the unique capacity to share some of my other/past obsessions and catalog a portfolio of sorts in a way that is liberated from big tech fiefdoms and in a form dictated by me and the limits of html and css alone. If this inspires you at all to do something similar, do it——writing code, especially html, is criminally easy. Go through like one tutorial and for anything besides the utter basics you just search "how to ____ in html css".

Like I hinted at, my plans for this site really are to play around with website design as a medium through which to express myself, as well as to create a personal catalog/collection of the things that I like and the things that I've made. Many of the stuff I share will fall under one or more of the following categories:

• music: I am someone who takes pretentionless pride in his taste in music, a taste that is personal, broad, and comes from hours of obsessive searching. I tend to shift preferences quite quickly, and I want to create some kind of record of the music I've liked for my own sake. I've lately become interested in the art of the radio show, so I'd love to put together the occasional hour-long playlist. In my endless wild-eyed search for new sounds, I've developed an appeciation of curation itself; I've found a handful of avenues of discovery that all are outside of Algorithms——not only out of a principled avoidance, but because these human-powered discovery avenues are simply better——which I would like to document and assemble for my coming-back-to (and as a proxy, for your sake).
• writing: Another hobbby of mine. I started writing with the intent of producing things that I like about a year ago. I think developing a personal voice in the written word is a truly divine method of human expression, and writing (in all of its forms) is a personal confrontation with the universe that is a beautiful and vulnerable thing to share. I love to read essays, novels, poems, or (especially) anything that a friend writes with intent. On this site I'll keep a portfolio of my works here, mostly for my own sake, but also to share.
• poetry: An embarassingly recent discovery of mine is a love of poetry. My favorite way to discover a poem is among other poems, in a Collected Works or an anthology, preferably a physical book, preferably a cheap used one. My forager instinct tells me to collect all of the poems that I love and put them in one place, i.e. to build my own anthology. That is what I plan to do here. I can only hope that we might share a love for one of these triumphs of the human spirit.
• engineering: I'm an engineer by trade and by education. It might be the thing that I am best at. Over the years, I've done a number of personal projects for fun as I've honed my craft. I'd like to upload some project documents for these personal projects (the ones that aren't the intellectual property of my past or current employers). The world becomes a better place when more knowledge is shared. This website in itself is in a way an engineering project, and I hope to keep a lab notebook/journal type thing so that I can remember how I did certain things. Because God knows the code will not always be legible. That journal will be here

Here I will document some planned features as a reminder to myself, as well as a teaser for the future

• A music player on homepage that can autoload some song I'm rocking with and also randomly pull a song out of the songs I like and endorse as Good Music.
• A button that will open a random page from my personal poetry anthology (this will of course be entirely comprised of awesome poems that are not by me and are in the public domain or will at least not hurt any artists my my sharing them here.
• For mobile compatibility, sidebar text that is rotated 90deg for vertical screens. Maybe even a continuously running news-style ribbon that you can hover over to pause and click to navigate to the shortcut
• javascript randomly place a cool image on different home screens with each visit from a collection of cool images
• also i have to add accompanying images to my essays, as well as footnotes
